Philly Family

Great Aunt Phyllis and family friend, Anne,
came down from Philadelphia to meet Simone.
Phyllis got to see Simone and reminisced about
holding Jen when she was this age, a few years ago...

Ella was also glad to see Phyllis and Anne.

Philly Family No. 2

Quality baby holding time.
Simone loves to taste the world.

First Smithsonian

Simone gets bundled up on a cold, wintery Saturday
to visit the Botanical Garden by the Capitol.

Warm and green, perfect for a nap.

Lovely flowers.

Bath, sans Sponge

Simone took her first bath in the tub this week. The following is what may have been running through her mind at the time.

"This is different."

"Water feels weird."

"But I like it."

"Until they ambushed me and dumped water on my head."

The Path to a Smile

Unsure

Thinking about it

Ok, I'll smile!

Baby Workout

Simone is leaning against my crossed legs in these pictures, propping herself up and practicing holding her head up.

She has really started to move around a lot more, kicking her legs and moving her head from side to side.

Little Dragon

For those who don't know, my Dad, sister, and I are all affiliated with Minnesota State University Moorhead, where Elise and I both received our undergraduate degrees and where my Dad taught for 30 some years.

MSUM is the home of the Dragons, as we can see modeled by the "Little Dragon" in this picture.

Nap Time

A big yawn
a peaceful look,
stretch the whole body,
and repeat.

Straight Up

In the last couple of weeks, Simone's hair has continued to grow, revealing its curly nature when wet and standing straight up virtually all the time. This trait comes from me (Dad), looking just like me when I get out of bed in the morning.

The Bear

Simone is fascinated by this bear. I don't know if it
is the big eyes or the black and white contrast,
but she can look at him for, well, minutes at a time, an
eternity in baby time.
